i’ve embroidered this wisteria design once before, but last time, it was sewn up into a rectangular clutch.  for this second version, i opted for the rounded style with darts instead.  that gave this one an entirely different feel– it’s always interesting to see how much influence the form has over the embroidery itself.

the finishing touches– the twisted cord, the bi-color tassel– are essentially the same as before.  this time though, even the metal loop for the tassel is twisted… anyone take notice?

wisteria season has long been over, but it’s a classic japanese motif.  i’m thinking it’d make a good complement to a yukata in the summertime…

Very pretty! Love the details; the cord, the tassel, the loop, but most of all the embroidery. You do beautiful work. Kudos to you.

  2. Beautiful. I love wisteria. I have one in my garden.
