radish heart

because it’s february… hearts?
not quite.

with thoughts of creating a container garden again come spring, i spent part of the weekend cleaning the balcony. among my stock of leftover seeds, i found a package for colorful radishes that did well last year. remembering that they made pretty additions to salads and such, i wondered, perhaps they’d be cute as embroidery too…? i decided to give it a go.

to create a plump radish bulb, i added a few layers of stitching underneath the top layer to give it a little lift. doing that extra bit of ‘background’ work was worth the effort– especially since it’s a simple motif, it’s what gives these radishes character.
